Welcome to The Chromebook Project

How Can I Help?

Now we're asking the good question, because you should definitely help: better-educated kids are better-educated adults, and become better, more productive citizens.

Smarter kids = better world; it's that simple.

If you want to help, we need:

  1. Laptops

We need your used, functional, cosmetically clean and intact, Mac or Windows laptop, so that it can be converted. (Nothing older than around 2012, please: that's "Windows 7" or "OS-X 10.8" aka "Mountain Lion".)

Desktops & tablets are accepted happily, but laptops are preferred so they can be taken to school.

  1. Laptop parts

These machines can be upgraded, so donating your used parts or even ordering new parts is really helpful. Here are the most common needs:

  • 2.5 inch SSD (preferred) or fast HDD hard drives

  • DDR3 and DDR4 laptop ram (2gb - 8gb)

  • 802.11n or 802.11ac Wifi USB dongles (2.4ghz or 5ghz)

  • Laptop batteries (various)

  • Laptop power supplies (universal are perfect)

If you'd like to order parts to donate, please ask what our pressing needs are first. Thank you.

  1. Funds (501c3 "Nonprofit status" registration is coming in the very near future!)

To be clear: this isn't a registered charitable organization (yet); I'm just an individual. I really don't want your money or even know that I can ask. (I don't even know what the legality of asking for computers is).

But the truth is MONEY = ENERGY, and energy is the ability to get things done. If you'd like to help, and this is your way to do so, please contact me and I'll be glad to discuss it. I'm sure we can figure out how to do it.
